ABC'S to live by in 2007
Although things are not perfect
Because of trail or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
X'alting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be
bad,
BBut,
Zion waits in glory... where none are ever sad!

I had a friend who shared this poem with me several days ago. I immediately thought that this would be a great item to share with the church. It reminds me of an interesting piece of information that I learned while in college. There are several chapters in the book of Psalms (25, 34, 111, 112 & 145) that start each stanza with a letter from the Hebrew alphabet and go all the way through the entire Hebrew alphabet. Obviously,

to those of us today who read the English translation, we can't see how creative and unique the Hebrew writer was who recorded these Psalms. It is lost in our English translation. Regardless, these Psalms are enjoyable to read if you are interested in doing so.

See you in 2007!
Greg

Christian New Year's Resolutions
How can I use the New Year?
To better serve my Lord?
I'll read my Bible every day,
And be more in accord.
I'll find new ways to serve others;
I'll love my neighbor, too.
I'll focus on "give" instead of "get"
in everything I do.
I'll forgive the people I'm mad at;
Angry feelings I'll discard;
I'll try to love my enemies,
Even though it's hard,
In the New Year, I'll lift people up,
Instead of putting them down,
I'll fill my heart with love and joy,
And never wear a frown.
I'll let go of my worries;
Ill put it all in His hands;
I'll repent and try to sin less,
And obey all His commands.
These New Year's resolutions
Are difficult, at best,
But there's something I can do each day
That will put my soul at rest:
I'll love my Lord with all my heart,
With all my mind and soul,
And if I do that essential thing,
All the rest will be in control.

Pew News

Great time for the holiday season. Lots of Christmas music! The Candlelight Buffet was thoroughly enjoyed by a large group of our entertainment by some of our own young singers from the Mills and Rice families, was lovely. The Christian Way Preschool program was delightful-hearing all those 2-5 year olds singing Christmas carols, and then they enjoyed a visit from Santa and a chance to talk to him. The choir had a beautiful selection of Christmas music for us on our special song Sunday. Mona Mill's students presented a delightful recital of Christmas and other music on that afternoon. We finished up the season with a caroling night and a lovely Christmas Eve morning and family evening service. Now let's start the New Year with bringing the good news every Sunday.

Many memories come to mind,
With the ending of the year.
As I recall days gone past,
Some even bring a tear.

We have had a shattered dream,
Had problems to come our way,
Many have felt we were alone,
Afraid to face another day.

Though it all we had a friend,
That was with us all the way!
one that stood beside us,
And heard when we did pray.

When we dream our dreams anew,
In the New Year we will start.
Let's all invite our Father,
In our dreams to have a part.

HINTS OF THE MONTH
How about a low cost window cleaner? Add just a drop of Dawn dish liquid to 3 cups of water.
Get rid of tarnish on silver the easy way, place a piece of aluminum foil (shinny side up) on the bottom of a glass bowl or pan. Fill the container with a solution made of 2 cups boiling water and 3 teaspoons of baking soda, and you've made an inexpensive "bath" to soak you silver in. Your silver will shine like new in no time.

Candlelight Buffet attendees on December 1, 2006 tasted many delicious shared dishes, enjoyed and evening of warm fellowship with each other and were delighted with presentations by our young ladies. Justine, Jasmine, Samantha and Esmeralda read scriptures; Gracie played the violin; Emma, Garcie and Mona sang several songs. There was a special treat from Barbie, Esmeralda and Sally who sang "Jesus Loves Me" in both English and Spanish. We also had a special guest, Dwight Elrich, who played the piano and led us in singing carols. Dwight was one of the first choir directors at our Church. He writes and composes music and our choir sings many of his songs for special music.

Best of all a generous Love Gift of $290 was collected for the Olive View Guild. The Guild strives to support and sustain the unpaid chaplain who ministers to patients and staff at the Olive View Hospital. Thank you everyone for your love and gifts

Mathew 3

John the Babtist Prepares the Way

1In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea 2and saying, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near." 3This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
"A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' "
4John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. 5People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9And do not think you can say to yourselves, "We have Abraham as our father." I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
11"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful then I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

HYMN OF THE MONTH

The Year Is Gone, Beyond Recall

The year is gone, beyond recall.
With all its hopes and fears.
With all its bright and gladdening smiles.
With all its mourners' tears.

Thy thankful people praise Thee, Lord.
For countless gifts received.
And pray for grace to keep the faith.
Which saints of old believed.

To Thee we come, O gracious Lord.
The newborn year to bless.
Defend our land from pestilence.
Give peace and plenteousness.

Forgive this nation's many sins.
The growth of vice restrain;
And help us all with sin to strive.
And crowns of life to gain.

From evil deeds that stain the past.
We now desire to flee;
And pray that future years my all
Be spent, good Lord, for Thee.
O Father, let Thy watchful eye
Still look on us in love.
That we may praise Thee, year by year.
With angel hosts above.

All glory to the Father be.
All glory to the Son.
All glory, Holy Ghost, to Thee.
While endless ages run.
