Some of you may remember a Crossing Point from a few years ago in which I shared a passage from a book that I read entitled, "When God Builds a Church", by Bob Russell (the Preaching minister at the Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky). I think his words are a great model for the Church Body and worth repeating...
God has ordained the church to be a place of truth. Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15). And that gospel doesn't change, regardless of ho far the values of our culture erode. Do your best to see that the members of your church, from age zero to one hundred, are grounded in God's Word. Make sure they understand the Bible and have adopted a biblical view of the world.

In your preschool, don't just play games. Children are sponges, soaking up everything around them. Teach them to memorize Scripture, take the time to plan lessons, and design creative activities that help them learn the Bible stories you want them to remember.

In your elementary programs, use all the resources available - drama, videos, crafts - to teach your kids God's Word.
-
In your youth ministry, don't just entertain your teenagers or rely on gimmicks to get them involved. Teach them God's Word,
- In your counseling, don't just listen. Tell them what God's Word says.
-
Provide adult Bible classes that deepen people's understanding of God's truth. Create in them a hunger for the Word of God. Train your teachers to know God's Word and equip them to communicate it creatively and effectively.

We need to do all that we can to emphasize God's Word in all aspects of our ministries here at our church; and, in doing so, we can stay focused on What We Believe and on The Mission of WHCC!

What a wonderful Easter service we had with the church filled to the brim with happy worshipers. Let's have more days like that.

Jenna Fleck took a trip to Hawaii (the big island) with her geology group to do a study on volcanoes. She's got good pictures to prove it. If you go to the Ronald Reagan library and see a familiar face, it could be Kevin Fleck - mostly you'll find him on staff in the Air Force One Pavilion
Jeri DeSimone took a 14-day cruise to and around the Hawaiian Islands. Be sure an ask to see her pictures.

Our New Accompanist
Welcome to Ruth Kuo, our new pianist. Here first Sunday was April 22, 2007, and she was enthusiastically received by all. Ruth is a senior music major at CSUN and has played piano since the age of 5.
Her special talents and pleasing personality are an asset to our music program.

There is a sweet, angelic look
In every mother's eyes

HINT OF THE MONTH
Beer bait for Slugs and Snai |

Slugs and snails are attracted to the sweet, yeasty combination of sugar and beer. When you place shallow containers of this mixture in the garden, slugs and snails will climb into them and drown. |
| Ingredients: |
• 6 ounces stale beer |
| |
• A pinch of sugar |
Steps: |
• Stir the sugar into the beer. |
| |
• Pour the mixture into shallow containers, until it is 1 inch deep. Empty tuna cans or plastic margarine tubs work well.
|
| |
• Sink the containers into soil with the rims at ground level throughout the garden. |
| |
• Empty and refill the containers with a fresh mixture every two days. |

Sympathy
The church family sends their sympathy to the family of Johnnie Ketailie who passed away March 20th after a short illness. We will miss her greatly, but be happy for her that she is rejoining her husband, Ed, in the presence of their Lord.
Jane McVean went to be with the Lord peacefully on April 20th. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to her family and to her friends here a WHCC. Jane was 91 years old and is buried with here beloved husband, Johnny, at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.

21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca, is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
25 "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thorn into prison. 26 I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Adultery
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery. 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away, It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. it is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Divorce
31 'It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorced his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

| Simple Guacamole |
 |
The best type of avocado to use for guacamole is the small nubbly variety called Hass. The larger, smooth-skinned type of avocado has higher water content and the flavors are less concentrated.
INGREDIENTS:
6 Hass avocados, pitted and peeled
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
3 tablespoons lime juice (about 2 lmes)
Salt to taste
Makes 3 cups
Place the avocados in a large bowl. Add the garlic and lime juice, and smash with the back of a fork until the mixture becomes a chunky puree.
Season with salt
